…….In April 2023, my collaborator on the “Thirty-Six Views of Newland Island” project, US composer Todd Gautreau [“Tapes and Topographies”}, released “Microtones”. Although apparently constructed from limited means the 9 tracks of “Microtones” are complex, nuanced and elegant. These layered and textured compositions are simultaneously intimate and almost infinitely spacious. “Microtones” presented me with the opportunity to turn the tables on Todd; to take his compositions and reimagine them as paintings……….
